Anthropology is a one semester, one credit weighted course for Juniors and Seniors. This course is designed to help students understand more about human beings and human societies in their infinite physical, historical and cultural variety.  We will cover physical, cultural and applied anthropology over the course of the semester.  This class will move quickly and cover a broad variety of information.  Your regular attendance and careful organization of notes, handouts and other materials will help you be successful on the essays, exams and projects for this course.  You will be offered a variety of opportunities to participate in cultural and academic experiences that will expand your understanding of the subject matter. Please do not hesitate to ask for my assistance at any time; email is always the best way to contact me outside of class.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Regular attendance and maintenance of all assignments and materials
  • Thoughtful, respectful and consistent participation in all class activities
  • Completion of two projects, with reports.
  • Responsibility for all homework, tests and assignments missed due to any absence is yours alone.  You must make arrangements for makeup work with me the day of your return. Assignments will be submitted digitally — unless other arrangements are agreed upon.
  • We will try as far as possible to make this a “paperless” classroom – you are required to supply me with an email address I may use to transmit reading and other assignments – and you will need to check it everyday, even on weekends and over holidays

GRADING : This is the grade scale that will be used to assess your work.

B+   89 – 87

B     86 – 83

C+   79 – 77

C      76 – 73

C-     72 – 70

D+    69 – 67

Grades are rounded up from .5 and down from .49
